A tooth gem is a small, decorative ornament, typically crafted from crystals, precious or semi-precious stones, or specialized dental alloys. These aesthetic enhancements are professionally bonded to the enamel surface of a tooth using dental-grade adhesives, a process similar to orthodontic bracket placement. Tooth gems offer a non-invasive and temporary form of dental adornment, allowing individuals to personalize their smile with a subtle yet distinctive sparkle. Applied by trained professionals, this cosmetic procedure prioritizes the integrity of the tooth structure and utilizes biocompatible materials for safe and reversible wear.

Before You Book
How long do tooth gems last?
Anywhere from 3 months to 3 years — sometimes longer. Longevity depends on individual enamel, bite pressure, pH balance of the mouth., lifestyle, and how well you follow aftercare. Some clients forget they even have them.
Natural gems are more variable because they do not have the 24k gold or platinum underlay backing that helps the Swarovski crystals adhere longer.
Gems placed on molars or lower teeth are more exposed to bite pressure, moisture, and friction. Because of this, longevity can also be less predictable.
For that reason, molar placements, lower teeth placements, and natural stones are not formally guaranteed.
All other placements are covered by a one-month placement guarantee
If it falls off within 30 days, I will replace it at no cost.
Do they damage enamel?
No drilling. No shaving. No holes. Gems are bonded to the surface of your enamel using professional dental adhesive. When removed properly, your natural tooth remains intact.
Does it hurt?
Not at all. The process is completely non-invasive and painless. It’s more like a tiny art installation than dental procedure.
What should I avoid after my appointment?
For the first 12–24 hours (while the adhesive reaches full strength):
• Avoid hard or sticky foods
• Avoid smoking or vaping
• Skip soda, coffee, or tea — or use a straw
• Do not pick or play with the gem
After that, just use common sense and take care of your smile.
Can I brush and floss normally?
Yes. Brush twice daily and floss once daily as usual. Clean teeth = longer-lasting sparkle.
Can I use and electric toothbrush?
Please do.
Can I get my teeth whitened?
Teeth whitening will not damage the gem, but it also won’t change the color of it. That means if you whiten after placement, your natural teeth may lighten while the gem stays the same shade.
For best results, I recommend whitening before getting a gem if that’s part of your plan.
Can I still get my teeth professionally cleaned?
Absolutely. Routine dental cleanings are safe. Your hygienist may even compliment your gem. Feel free to drop my name.
What if it falls off?
It happens occasionally. If swallowed, don’t panic — gems are lead-free and body-safe. No internal disco ball situation.
How does it get removed?
Removal is quick and non-invasive. I use a professional dental instrument to gently lift the gem from the enamel surface. Any remaining bonding material is carefully removed, leaving your natural tooth intact.
Professional removal with me is $50. Your dentist can also remove it during a routine cleaning if preferred.
